My name is G. A.  In October 1981, at age 17, I was assigned to George AFB, CA (active duty).  I attended a briefing by the base hospital as part of the INTRO program for newly assigned personnel.  During that briefing, females (both military and civilian) were told to consider not getting pregnant while at George, because they had a “high infant mortality rate”.  No reason was given.  I was stationed at George AFB for four years.  Years later, when I tried to get pregnant, I was unable to. When I became pregnant at age 29, I had a miscarriage.  Ultimately, I was never able to have a child.

I recall the wife of one of my co-workers had several miscarriages and was never able to have a child, as well.
