Tresa Sticker

My name is Tresa Sticker.  I was stationed at George AFB from 1979 to 1984, assigned to the 561st TFS; 562nd TFS; and the 39th TFS Squadron’s.  My Air Force Specialty Code was 271X2 Squadron Operations Specialist. I worked in those squadron buildings along the flight line. I lived in the base housing from 1981 to 1986. I do not know if I worked with or was exposed to any chemicals.

I do not remember the actual street address but I lived in base housing on W. Shepherd, Utah, and Idaho. They all had swamp coolers the best I remember.

I don’t ever recall being told not to become pregnant, but was encouraged to have my tubal ligation. I became pregnant in early 1984 and about 4 months later woke up in a pool of blood. I went to the ER at the base where they admitted me and told me I had miscarried and performed a d&c.

My daughter has had numerous issues with gastro, Crohn’s disease,  fibromyalgia, asthma; My granddaughter(daughter’s daughter)had to have surgery on her kidneys when she was 1 year old; my other granddaughter (son’s daughter) who is 21 has rheumatoid arthritis; my son had bone lesions at the age of 15; which were determined to be benign. My daughter was two months old when I arrived at George AFB, and my son was three years.

I have had to have a hysterectomy due to fibroid tumors; have hypertension, pitting leg edema that they are now saying is lipedema; migraines, memory loss, joint pain, unexplained muscle/nerve pain.

We did swim in the base pool as well as small kiddy pools at our home. We had flower gardens.

I recall letters about the water but do not recall their contents. I used the water for bathing, drinking, cooking, swimming.

I have not received any type of letter from the DoD or the VA reference anything to do with George AFB. I am currently under the care of the VA in Lexington Ky. for primary care. I haven’t gotten any answers for my concern’s from them about my headaches, back and muscle pain or the leg edema.

I am not a doctor, Veterans Service Officer (VSO), or attorney; therefore, I cannot provide medical or legal advice.

If you, a friend, or a loved one have been injured or have passed away due to exposure to contamination at a DOD Superfund Site, please follow the steps outlined on the "Get Help" page.
